Da Costa

According to a New York Herald article on February 27, 1910, "Mr. da Costa is the John S. Sargent of Childhood". Mr. da Costa specialized in painting children's portraits. While he did not paint children exclusively, he has painted more children than anything else and 'this work appeals greatly to him'. An Englishman from Devonshire, he studied in Paris and exhibited at the Paris Salon. When he returned to England he joined the Newlyn School. (1867-1931)
