Don Bachardy was born in Los Angeles on May 18, 1934. Bachardy studied at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles and Slade School in London. For the past 50 years he has lived in Santa Monica, CA in the home that he shared with his life partner, the writer Christopher Isherwood. Exhibited: Redfern Gallery (London), 1961 (solo); Huntington Library, 2004. Works held: Metropolitan Museum; DeYoung Museum; University of Texas; Huntington Library (San Marino, CA); UCLA; Fogg Museum (Harvard); Princeton University; Smithsonian Institute; National Portrait Gallery (London); California State Capitol (Jerry Brown).
