EthnicArt gallery has a new home on Troost - Kansas City, MO
EthnicArt gallery, formerly at 18th and Vine, has a new home on Troost By ALICE THORSON The Kansas City Star Roughly a decade after closing their gallery and framing business in the 18th and Vine Historic Jazz District, Ron and Dorothy Chaney have reopened their EthnicArt Gallery at 5930 Troost Ave. “I can’t think of anything I’ve enjoyed more,” said Ron Chaney, who has spent months transforming a 1,700-square-foot space on the building’s second floor into a pristine gallery. The inaugural exhibit, which continues through June 28, features works by Anthony High, Henry Dixon, Lonnie Powell and Keith Shepherd. All of the artists are members of the Light in the Other Room group of black Kansas City artists. In addition to changing exhibits, EthnicArt will offer custom framing. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and by appointment. For more information, send email to artlover57ataol [dot] com.
